Ways to Start
The fire can be learned about through several people in Morthal.
Ask Jonna about the burned house at the Moorside Inn in Morthal
Jonna shares the town's suspicions and directs you to speak with Morthal's Jarl.
Ask Morthal's Jarl about the burned house
The Jarl asks you to investigate the fire and formally begins the quest.
Ask a guard in Morthal about the burned house
The guard directs you to speak with Morthal's Jarl about the fire.
Investigation
Find Helgi's grave after dark
Look for an uncovered child's coffin among the rocks on the hill west of the Moorside Inn, near the edge of Morthal. You can also speak with the Jarl after meeting Helgi's ghost to receive a quest marker.
Rewards
Leveled gold
Option to purchase Windstad Manor.
You can purchase the property from Morthal's steward for 5,000 gold with Hearthfire.
